Having A GYN Surgical Issue?

One of the most common frustrations for patients is that they are unable to schedule surgery in a timely manner. Women with gynecologic issues sometimes need to go to the operating room. They are in pain, they're frustrated, and their doctor's office tells them that it's a two to three month wait before getting surgery. This is very, very frustrating to the patient and reduces their quality of life.

The beautiful thing about the way I run my office is that getting timely access to care is not an issue for my patients. And let me tell you one of my favorite stories about this.

Just three weeks ago, I had a patient who came in here with a large ovarian mass. She had gone to her primary care doctor who had worked it up. Her doctor sent her for an ultrasound, and told her that she had a large ovarian mass and had to see her gynecologist ASAP. This mass needed to come out. So she called her gynecologist, but was unable to get even an appointment to be seen for eight weeks.

It’s the middle of the summer. The patient has a vacation planned with her family, and she wanted this large mass out. So then she finds me on Google, she comes to my office, and after I review her case, we make a plan for surgery. She tells me about her vacation plans and that she would like to have this out before her trip.

I go out to my front desk, ask my assistant to call the operating room, and lo and behold, we have our surgery scheduled for the very next day. So within 24 hours of the patient setting foot in my office, she is now walking out with her surgery complete. This means she does not have to worry about this big mass throughout her summer vacation. She does not have to worry about it bursting and her having to find an emergency room wherever she is.

She doesn't have to worry about whether it is cancerous or not. She's going to find out very soon. Luckily, it was all good, all benign. This news relieved her of so much mental energy and worry, and now she was able to have a wonderful vacation with her family worry free.
